I plan to start using this blog to follow progress on "Lucky 8s" this winter. My son just gave me a lesson in blogging after re-teaching me to update the 64airstream.com web page.
For the 64 site, I separated "Cruises" from "Rally and Camping" as links from the "Traveling" page and updated for this summer. We had some great experiences with "Marlo" including an impromptu rally with the WDCU caravan heading to the international. We invited them to overnight in my mother-in-law's yard. We ended up with 9 Airstreams and a lot of fun. We also had a great weekend at the "Airstreams in the Wilds Rally" in Ohio, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the 1959 Capetown to Cairo African caravan. Dale "Pee Wee" Schwamborn was at both, so we got a chance to get to know him and and a vital part of Airstream history.
With the inspiration of seeing so many restored Airstreams, it's time to start our new project. I'll start over the next few posts laying out the project plan. Then, as with any project plan, we'll see how close we come to staying on budget and schedule and sticking to the design.
Right now, only the curb side cabinets are removed. So, I recognize a great deal of "discovery" is ahead of us. That's a big part of the fun...
